As you may well already know, search engine optimisation is not just one task. Just like a jigsaw puzzle, it is comprised of many different tasks, each one leading up to the final result, which should enable any website to be better and more productive than it was before.
SEO is all about choosing the right keywords, looking for the best keywords and phrases to use, putting them in the right places and much more besides. But it is quite common for regular webmasters (that is, those without significant amounts of SEO experience) to get caught up on one particular aspect. For many this will be keywords. It is vital to start off with the right ones otherwise you will end up having a less than perfect result.
But you have to be careful when it comes to getting all those search engine optimisation tasks done. It is all too easy to end up with lots of SEO work to do, but to focus on one part of it, i.e. the keywords. You should remember that you have to focus on everything equally if you are to get the best possible results.
For example you also need to make sure you create plenty of links between the pages on your website. It’s not enough to keyword everything correctly and hope for the best. By providing links to and from all the pages on your site, you will make it easier for people (and perhaps more importantly the search engines) to locate your other pages as well.
In addition to this you also have to work on linking to your site from external sources. This is not a one off deal either – just as you have to have good strong keywords for every new page you add to your site, so you have to have new links to them from external websites as well. These should be relevant sites if possible, but you can also write relevant articles, publish them elsewhere and then point them back to your website.
You can see therefore that SEO is comprised of many different facets, and we have still only mentioned a few of them here. If you feel you are unable to successfully work on all of these aspects at present, you may benefit from hiring a company to do it all for you. But whatever route you take you will certainly want to ensure that you are able to make the most of your SEO efforts. Getting tunnel vision and concentrating on one of them to the exclusion of all others is not the way to go.
Of course it is also helpful not to get overwhelmed by your efforts in this respect. If you are completely new to SEO, work on familiarising yourself with everything that is involved ask yourself “Do You Get Tunnel Vision When Organising SEO Tasks?” and if not satisfied then hire a professional SEO Company for better results. This will lead you towards better results in the future, when you can build and maintain stronger sites that have everything you could want in terms of search engine optimisation efforts.
