One of the critical aspects of SEO is to have a proper keyword analysis. In other words the business has to decide (In consultation with SEO Company ) the keywords to focus for the SEO efforts. It is very easy to fall for all those very impressive, highly searched terms.  Its good to be ambitious and go for such keywords but at the same time if your business is local it makes a good sense to have local flavour in your keyword mix. There may be those only 100 odd people searching for “Your service + Location” keywords but possibility that you can get that business is very high if you come up on top for such terms in search engine results.

Google recently released changes on the way it shows the local listings. Place Search results will begin appearing automatically on Google when we predict you’re looking for local information. In addition, you’ll find a new link for “Places” in the left-hand panel of the search results page so you can switch to these results whenever you want.

Google has been working on localization and has been providing increased focus in the Place / Location related search. When asked “Anything you’ve focused on more recently than freshness?” Amit Singal stated: “Localization. We were not local enough in multiple countries, especially in countries where there are multiple languages or in countries whose language is the same as the majority country.”
A good focus on the local search terms can be a good SEO beginning for websites. And the Good news is that most of the times these terms are ignored by many and thus its easier to be ranking high on such terms. I would strongly recommend to first list the business in local listings of Google . You can take help of SEO Consultant just in case you need to have a proper SEO friendly copy of the listing.
If you have clients who can vouch for your quality of service. Please encourage them to put review comments. It does help. Make sure that your page is well managed as well as has all the required information well listed. A good link with your social video / blogs can also be helpful.
